      55-Alive driver safety program set in Jackson

      The 55-Alive driver safety program, sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons, is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Sept. 20-21 at the Jackson Township Senior Citizens Community Center, 45 Don Connor Boulevard, for persons 50 and over.

      To sign up for this two-day eight-hour course, send a check made out to AARP for $10 (includes cost of course including materials) to the instructor, Fred Wetherell, at 178 Susan Drive, Jackson 08527-1143 to reserve a space in the class.

      This course teaches safety habits. There will be no behind-the-wheel practice or tests.

      Upon completion, all insurance companies doing business in New Jersey are required by law, to offer a minimum 5 percent discount, plus two points will be deducted from each student’s driving record, if needed.

      Another course is scheduled for Oct. 1-2 at the New Egypt Public Library, 119 Evergreen Road, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Barbara Rothlein at (609) 758-7888.
