Two committees will help plan high school district’s future
      Student attendance areas,
      use of facilities will be
      focus for advisory groups

ENGLISHTOWN — Two new ad hoc committees have been formed by the Freehold Regional High School District which will gather information and assist district administrators in making evaluations and finding possible interim solutions regarding school populations.

At the Aug. 25 meeting of the district’s Board of Education, board President Patricia Horvath of Manalapan announced that the two advisory committees have been formed.

The chair of each committee will decide when and where the panel will meet, said Horvath.

The Facility Advisory Committee (FAC) will study the functional use of all buildings in the district and follow up the activities of a previous land acquisition committee that conducted a search for sites for a seventh regional high school.

The members of the FAC will review the land acquisition committee’s report, determine the need for obtaining land and future construction, suggest time frames for referendums, establish joint meetings with the Student Attendance Advisory Committee (SAAC) and prepare a final report to the full board for the meeting of Dec. 17.

FAC members will include all building principals; Dr. Joan Nesenkar-Saylor, the district’s business administrator; board member Diana Cappiello of Englishtown; board member Dr. Steven Mishkin of Marlboro; and two alternates, board member Colin Miller of Farmingdale, and Horvath.

Additionally, staff members will be appointed by the president of the district’s education association and there will be 10 community members on the FAC: architect Steve Leone, Freehold; John C. Jennings, Freehold; Stephen E. Roberts, Howell; Alan L. Jacobowitz, Freehold; Barbara A. Loftus, Marlboro; Dr. William R. Satz, Colts Neck; Kevin Wendt, Howell; Vincent Domidion, Colts Neck; Rebecca Ginsburg, Manalapan; and Barry Fulmer, Freehold.

Board member Ronald Lawson of Howell will chair the committee.

The members of the newly appointed SAAC will study how to balance the district’s student population as a result of increased enrollment and building capacity and find interim solutions for the 2002-04 school years.

SAAC members will review recent referendum history and demographic studies. They will also review future building plans.

The members of the SAAC will establish joint meetings with the FAC and will also prepare a final report to the full board for the Dec. 17 meeting.

SAAC members will include Deputy Superintendent Dr. Louis Talarico; all building principals; Robert Nivison, transportation coordinator; Teresa Rafferty, public information coordinator; and board members Terry Kraft of Howell and Arlene Radman of Colts Neck. Board members Colin Miller of Farmingdale and Marlene Caruso of Freehold Township will be alternate members.

SAAC community members are Joan Leimbach, Freehold; Bill Perkins, Freehold; Barry Jacobson, Manalapan; Linda Dreyer, Manalapan; Bonniesue Rosenwald, Englishtown; Rosina Hary, Freehold; Philip E. Sanfilippo, Howell; Ellen Blank, Freehold; and James Jannarone, Howell.

Board member Bernice Hammer of Freehold Borough will chair the committee.
