Board is right in putting Wasser issue to rest

There is nothing strange about the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education’s decision to put to rest, finally, the specious, unfounded allegations regarding Superintendent of Schools James Wasser.

After the exhaustive 21-month investigation, the attorney general’s office decided the case is closed. It is no coincidence that the very same people, who are not even district residents, who pressed for an investigation in the first place are now having a hard time accepting the fact that the matter is over.

Tom Mazza has his facts wrong — the board has not expended money for protective orders. The superintendent has never been charged with anything, so the question, "Is he innocent?" is a ridiculous one.

Whatever provoked this conspiracy, a senseless vendetta against Mr. Wasser, should stop now. The board is far too busy working with the superintendent to provide an outstanding education for the 9,800 students.
