Francis, Roberts are unopposed in Plumsted Francis, Roberts are Two Republicans are running unopposed for two three-year seats on the Plumsted Township Committee in the Nov. 6 election. Committeeman Ken Francis is seeking his fifth term on the governing body. Committeewoman Ada Roberts, who was appointed to the governing body in June following the death of her husband, Committeeman Mike Roberts, on May 28, is seeking her first term. Fun Fest costume winners announced Lakewood’s annual Halloween Fun Festival for Lakewood children took place on Oct. 20 at Pine Park. The event was sponsored by the Lakewood Township Special Events Committee in cooperation with the Lakewood Community School and the Lakewood High School P.A.L.S. and R.O.T.C. programs. Following are the winners of the children’s Halloween costume contest: • 1-4 age group – Nicole Barney, 2, first place, train; Joseph Collins, 1, devil boy; Kristopher Gunnel, 1, doughboy; Kacie Carney, 1, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz; • 5-7 age group – Walter Zinenko, 7, Oak Street School, army sniper; Mary Gibbs, 7, Holy Family School, firecracker; Paige Miller, 6, Oak Street School, Raggedy Ann; Billy Figueroa, 5, Spruce Street School, blood brother No. 1, Daniel Lopez, 7, Oak Street School, blood brother No. 2; • 8-10 age group – Katie Mrock, 9, Spruce Street School, soldier carrying injured soldier; Austin Barney, 8, Clifton Avenue Grade School, KISS; Henry Conoly, 8, Clifton Avenue Grade School, Indian chief; Hassan Mayfield, 9, Clifton Avenue Grade School, Dracula; Tyler Floyd, 8, Spruce Street School, wizard.
