Jewel Case heist
Freehold Township police are seeking a black male between the ages of 25 and 30 in connection with the Nov. 23 theft of four diamond engagement rings from the Jewel Case, Route 9.
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Police are searching for three suspects who participated in the theft of four diamond engagement rings from the Jewel Case, South Freehold Shopping Center, Route 9, on Friday afternoon.
According to Lt. Robert Brightman, the theft occurred at about 2:23 p.m. while a store employee was showing one of the suspects a ring. When the employee was distracted by another individual, the man reached into a case and removed four round-cut diamond rings, each about two carats in size. The stolen diamond engagement rings are valued at about $50,000, Brightman said.
The first suspect — the man who allegedly stole the rings — is described as a black male between 25 and 30 years old, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, with brown eyes, a medium to dark complexion, an athletic build and a shaved head.
Two suspects with that man are described as follows:
• A black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, thin, with a dark complexion;
• A black female, with slicked-back black hair, medium build and a dark complexion.
Police did not say how the suspects left the shopping center.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Freehold Township police at (732) 462-7500.
