Monmouth human relations commission won’t stand for bias attacks

The Monmouth County Human Relations Com-mission deplores the recent unprecedented and devastating attacks against New York City and Washington, D.C., which resulted in an incredible loss of life.

We also find misdirected retaliation against Muslims, Arab-Americans, or anyone who even remotely resembles the purported terrorists to be unacceptable.

Reports of violence and terroristic threats against various religions or those of foreign extraction are against the very principles — and laws — of this country and cannot be tolerated.

To ensure safety and respect for all people, the United States Commission on Civil Rights provides a hot line for all complaints at 1-800-552-6843.

Those who might need help in filing a complaint can receive assistance at the Internet Web site, www.usccr.gov/ complain.htm.

The Monmouth County Human Relations Commission’s own bias hot line is at (732) 303-7666.

Now is the time for all of us to stand together and contain our anger, while planning ahead to preserve our diversity and to enhance the quality of life for all Americans.
