           The Jackson Wildcats U9 soccer team took first place in the Toms River Recreation Station Indoor Soccer Tournament on Jan. 26. The team played four games, fighting hard each step of the way. They battled their way through each game winning two, tying one and losing one. The Wildcats U9 team was led into the playoffs by their Coach Chris Serreino and Assistant Coach Jerry Meadows, in second place only to dominate with a win of 2-0 allowing them to take home the first-place medal. Team members are Connor Berry, Josh Delorenzo, M. Kelly Hansen, Josh Meadows, Alec Mancheca, Nick Nalywayko, Jake Orehostky, Brandon Russo, Andy Serrieno, Kyle Shankle and Ryan Totin.

           The Jackson High School wrestling team has captured four consecutive District 21 championships. Second-year coach Scott Goodale feels his team is poised to win its fifth in a row when the championships kick off Friday at Manalapan High School.

           Tri-City Umpire Association will begin its cadet training program for new umpires on March 13 at the Port Au Peck Firehouse, Myrtle Avenue, Oceanport, at 7:15 p.m. There is no charge for the training, and the program is open to both experienced umpires and cadets.
