June 14 dinner-dance will pay tribute to late cardiologist

We recently lost one of the great champions and advocates of cardiovascular health working in New Jersey, and particularly Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties.

Dr. Ronald I. Rubinstein was an interventional cardiologist at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, director of cardiology at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, and a staff cardiologist at Com-munity Medical Center in Toms River.

He was also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and he had a private medical practice, Premier Cardiology Group, with offices in Neptune and Marlboro.

On June 14, the American Heart Association will posthumously honor the life and work of Dr. Ronald I. Rubinstein at the American Heart Association Heart Rock The Night Away dinner-dance being held at the Ocean Place Conference Resort in Long Branch. Also being honored are Nancy Martinez of Monmouth Cardiology Associates; the Jersey Shore Medical Center Cardiac Services Division; and Gerald Schwab, president of the Greater New Jersey Implantable Cardiac Defibril-lator Support Group.

In addition to his demanding professional duties, Dr. Rubinstein devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to the American Heart Association. He was president of the American Heart Association South Jersey board of directors, encompassing Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

As an American Heart Association volunteer, Dr. Rubinstein worked tirelessly to promote the American Heart Association "chain of survival," the widespread availability of automated external defibrillators and the importance of CPR training.

Please consider joining us on June 14 at the American Heart Association Heart Rock The Night Away. For more information call the American Heart Association at (856) 546-5600.
