      Jackson resident applauds school board

It is unfortunate that a recently departed (Jackson) Board of Education member chose to politicize the hiring of a particularly talented young lady under the guise of nepotism. Do family ties necessarily preclude you from serving the community in which you spent your entire life? What about giving back to the town which shaped your persona? Such old fashioned ideas like serving your community rather than chasing the best starting salary is a rare characteristic in recent college grads. Much to the Jackson Board of Education’s credit, they realized that hiring this young lady would be a prudent and beneficial move for our school system.
