      for Scouts’ popcorn

      Cub Scout Pack 82 of Jackson, chartered by Holy Name, will be selling popcorn as part of its annual fund-raising campaign Sept. 14-15 outside of both Shop-Rite of Jackson and Jackson Super Food-town, both on County Line Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To place an advance order, call Tony Alfano at (732) 814-8154.

      Vendors being sought

      for Mothers Market

      The Jackson Women of Today will be sponsoring its annual Mothers Market on Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to be held at the Larsen Road Firehouse, corner of North New Prospect and Larsen roads in Jackson. Vendors are being sought who wish to sell their gently used children’s furnishings, toys, and clothing. Proceeds will go to benefit the Jackson Food Pantry and other local charities.       Scouts to collect old,

      used and worn flags

      Cub Scout Pack 82 of Jackson will be collecting American flags that need to be destroyed, including tattered, torn and weather-damaged flags. The flags will then be given to local veterans groups for proper disposal. Collection will begin Sept. 14-15 outside the ShopRite of Jackson and the Jackson Super Foodtown stores, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information contact Tony Alfano at (732) 814-8154.

      Conservation district to

      offer two scholarships

      The N.J. Association of Conservation Districts has announced it is now accepting applications for its annual Memorial Conservation Scholarships. This year, the NJACD will present one or two $1,000 scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing a career related to natural resource conservation.

      Full-time undergraduates are eligible if they reside in New Jersey, and will complete four semesters of study by Novem-ber. Applications can be obtained from any soil conservation district in New Jersey. In Ocean County, the soil conservation district is at 714 Lacey Road, Forked River. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. It can be reached at (609) 971-7002. Applicants can also directly contact the N.J. Association of Conservation Districts, c/o NJDA, P.O. Box 330, Room 304, Trenton 08625. Deadline for submitting applications is Sept. 13.

      slates monthly meeting

      The Ocean County Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Brick Municipal Complex on Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. The junior program will begin at 7 p.m. The public is invited at no charge. For more information call (732) 255-6911.
