      New Egypt Elks to host

      The New Egypt Elks Youth Activities Committee will host a Comedy Night on Sept. 14 at the Lodge, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt section of Plumsted. The night starts with a hot and cold buffet followed by a comedy show featuring performers from Syracuse, N.Y. A DJ and dancing will follow. Tickets are $25 which includes dinner, show, DJ and dancing and draft beverages. All proceeds will benefit New Egypt High School sports programs.       Ocean County Camera Club slates meeting

      The Ocean County Camera Club, sponsored by the Lakewood Community School, meets at Lakewood High School, Somerset Avenue and Seventh Street, every Monday. Interested adults may join the club at any meeting. Members learn to improve skills, master new techniques and exchange ideas. For more information call (732) 905-3685.

      Scouts to sell popcorn at local supermarkets

      Cub Scout Pack 82 of Jackson will be holding a popcorn sale on Sept. 14-15 outside ShopRite and Super Foodtown in Jackson, both on County Line Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All popcorn varieties will be available for sale, and holiday orders may be placed as well.       OCC concert band is seeking new members

      The Ocean County College Concert Band is seeking new members for its upcoming concert season. Band membership is open to anyone in the community 18 years of age or older who plays a band instrument. Band members do not have to be OCC students.

      The OCC Concert Band is a community-based group which has been performing for 24 years. Performances include two concerts per year.
