Sport Shorts Jackson Little League is pleased to announce that spring baseball registration will be held on Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jackson Little League Field House. Once again the league will accept applications for children ages 5-12 years old. (Children must be age 5 by July 31, 2003, and can be no older than 12 by July 31, 2003). Proof of age is absolutely required. The league is also proud to introduce Jackson Junior League Baseball for the first time. This league will be for children ages 13 and 14 years old (not to be 15 years old before July 31, 2003). The cost for these leagues is as follows: T-Ball (ages 5-6) $75. All other Leagues $100. The Jersey Intensity 12U girls’ fast-pitch softball team is looking for a catcher and utility player for the upcoming season. The Intensity fast-pitch team is an ASA Junior Olympic softball program offering full-year instruction with winter indoor training, strength and conditioning programs, and spring, summer and fall tournaments. The following are the results of the Nick "the Quick" Werkman All-American Action Clinic, held at the McCauliffe School in Jackson on Nov. 1. The boys’ hotshot winner was Anthony Daratale with 26 points, followed by Mike Shiro (25), Branden Szoka (22) and John Krietzeeg (15). The foul-shooting contest was won by Mike Shiro (10-10), followed by Szoka (9-10), Shawn Mautore (8-10), Daratale (7-10) and Krietzeeg (6-10). Shiro was the camp’s MVP. At the Nov. 4 clinic, Danny Breazzano won the hotshot contest, with 16 points, followed by Paul Schloeder (14), Cole Moskal (12) and Anthony Priegue (8). Breazzano also won the foul-shooting contest, going 10-10, followed by Nick Burgay (9-10), Andrew Kuminski (8-10), Moskal (7-10) and Joe Bartoline (6-10). Breazzano was the camp’s MVP. The Jersey Dreamers 18U baseball team is looking for two players, including a high quality pitcher, to complete their 2003 roster. Plan to attend Pony Nationals and college showcase tournaments. The Coast to Coast Amateur Stars are now seeking baseball players ages 11-18 and softball players ages 14-19 from New Jersey who would like the opportunity to represent the United States at a two-week summer tournament in Australia. Team age groups include 11-12, 13-15 and 16-18 for the boys, and 14-15 and 16-19 for the girls. The squads are led by top college coaches and pro scouts who provide a unique perspective on what it’s like to play at the game’s highest level.
