Rotary Club continues to support Jackson community It is important now, more than ever, to encourage credibility and integrity in our communities. After the major corporation and church scandals and the worldwide strife of terrorism over the past year, there is no better time to look at local organizations that have had a record of reliability and trust for decades. The Rotary Club, which has worked with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, is one of the most well-known, well-recognized and well-respected service clubs that enrich many communities. It has a rich tradition of volunteerism that fuels a variety of important programs. Rotary has a set of ethical guidelines called the 4-Way Test created in 1932 by Herbert J. Taylor. The "test" was a code of ethics for his employees to follow in all dealings with suppliers and customers. It was adopted by the Rotary Club in 1943. Of the things we think, say, or do ... • Is it the truth? • Is it fair to all concerned? • Will it build goodwill and better friendships? • Will it be beneficial to all concerned? The Rotary Club has been a part of Jackson for over 30 years and it’s because of our commitment, dedication and belief of our 4-Way Test that our members continue to work toward the betterment of its people and community. The guidelines of the 4-Way Test might be simple, but are still relevant to the business world today. Following these guiding principles could make a big difference in our homes, communities and the world. Joseph Kienzlen Rotary Club member Jackson |
