Obituaries DOROTHY "DOTTIE" F. THEOBALD, 68, of Lakewood, died May 25 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Lakewood. She was a retired customer service representative at United Counties Bank, Lincroft section of Middletown, where she was employed 18 years. She also worked part-time at Stern’s Department Store, Eatontown. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, where she also volunteered for its annual fair. She enjoyed the beach, art, and travel. She is survived by her husband, Jerome J. Theobald of Lakewood; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William and Judith Theobald of New Jersey, and Jerome Theobald III of Florida; her daughter, Dorothy Ann Theobald of New Jersey; her sister, Roberta Anastasi of New Jersey; and one grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702. LORETTA G. SHERIDAN, 96, of Holmdel, died June 7 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Aberdeen, Woodhaven, Mendham and Deerfield Beach, Fla., prior to moving to Holmdel eight years ago. She was an elementary school teacher for the New York City School System for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She was a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Woodhaven, and St. Joseph’s, Mendham. She was active in the Mendham First Aid Squad and various senior organizations. She enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sheridan, in 1998. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah F. and William Smith of Jackson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Breadline Memorial, 135 W. 31st St., New York City, N.Y. GUY E. LAYTON, 80, of Marlboro, died June 2 at Care One, Holmdel. He was born in Long Branch and lived in Colts Neck before moving to Marlboro in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army, 1341st Engineer Battalion, during World War II. He was a glass worker at Brockway Glass Co., Freehold Township, where he was employed for 27 years before retiring in 1984. He was a former member of the Old Brick Reformed Church, Marlboro. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria M. Layton, in 1998. Surviving are a son, Alan D. Layton of Jackson; a daughter, Pamela A. Butler of New Windsor, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Layton of Colts Neck; two sisters, Jane Millen of Breezewood, Pa. and Grace Sheppler of Fort Myers, Fla; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702. PATRICK JOHN SHEMA, 42, of Bayville, died June 2 at home. He was born in Dubois, Pa., and lived in Jackson before moving to Bayville. He was employed at Frequency Engineering Labs, Farmingdale. Surviving are a brother, Joseph R. Shema of Freehold Township, and several uncles, aunts and cousins in Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702. MARGARET "PAL" ANDRETTA, 70, of Jackson, died June 2 at home. Mrs. Andretta was born in Freehold and lived there before moving to Jackson 40 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Andretta Sr., in 1996. She is survived by five sons, John, Daniel, Thomas Jr., Richard and Robert Andretta; a daughter, Ann Willson; two brothers, William and Edward Riddle; three sisters, Barbara Jones, Betty Furlong and Etta; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. Interment was in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. |
