County fair to open The Ocean County Fair is set to take place July 8-13 at the Robert J. Miller Airpark, Route 530 in Berkeley Township. Activities are to include pig and skunk races, chain saw carving, "kiddie tractor pull," rides, entertainment, crafts, an "oldies show," a hypnotist, the original "General Lee" car from the Dukes of Hazzard television series, and more. Fair hours will be July 8-9, 5-11 p.m., July 10-12, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., July 13, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details: (732) 914-9466 or visit www.oceancountyfair.com. Golf tournament on tap The New Egypt Elks No. 2457 is holding its first golf tournament on Aug. 22 at Gambler Ridge Golf Course, Upper Freehold. There will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $85 per person which includes draft beverages, golf cart, sleeve of balls, hot dog, prizes and a prime rib dinner will take place at the lodge after the tournament.
