Police offering to train
Jackson special officers
The Jackson Township Police Depart-ment is seeking individuals to train and certify as Class I police officers. Appli-cants must be Jackson residents to be eligible for the position. Class I police officers are authorized to perform routine traffic details, spectator control and similar duties. They have the duty to issue summonses for disorderly persons offenses, violations of municipal ordinances and violations of Title 39 motor vehicle regulations. Class I officers are not permitted to carry firearms or other weapons. The salary for the Class I officer is $11 per hour. The police department provides uniforms and equipment, which will be necessary to carry out the job. An application will be made available to be picked up at the Justice Complex. Background checks and fingerĀprinting will be performed for all appliĀcants. Carnival held to support Jaguars football team The Jackson Football Parents Club is sponsoring a carnival to benefit the Jackson Memorial High School football team. The carnival will be held July 23-27 at Jackson Memorial High School, Don Connor Boulevard. The hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday, noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. There will be rides, games, food, refreshments, entertainment and raffles.
