      OceanFirst Foundation, Toms River, recently pledged a total of $120,000 over the next three years to the United Way of Ocean County’s "Healthy Smiles" program. OceanFirst Foundation has supported the United Way of Ocean County with grants totaling over $1 million since 1996.

      United Way of Ocean County established the "Healthy Smiles" program with a legislative grant in 2001. To date, more than 150 children ages 2-6 in Ocean County have received free dental care through the Healthy Smiles program. To help this number grow, the OceanFirst Foundation will allocate $50,000 in 2003, $40,000 in 2004, and $30,000 in 2005 to expand the reach of the Healthy Smiles program.

      Gellman Images, Freehold, held a kick-off celebration of its 15th year at its corporate office in Howell, recently. Gary and Brian Gellman, owners, founded the company on Sept. 19, 1989. Gary Gellman has been featured nationally more than 200 times in newspapers, magazines and on radio. He also has appeared on national television. Gellman Images has been chosen the official image makers for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon in New York for three consecutive years. Gellman Images is a member of the New York Professional Videographers Association and the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey.

      The Institute of Management Accountants will meet Oct. 8 at 6:15 p.m. at the Greystone Manor, Freehold Township. The speaker’s topic will be "Recruiting in Today’s Marketplace." Dinner is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. For more information, call Peggy or Joe at (732) 683-2382.

      James Farrell, chief financial officer of Single Throw and treasurer of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, has been named Business Person of the Month for August by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce. Farrell received the award at the Sept. 3 industrial meet­ing at the Woodlake Country Club.

      Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, has announced that three new members have been appointed to the foundation’s board.

      Jack Chadwick joins the board with years of experience in the oil business and cellular communications and is cur­rently the general manager of Point Bay Fuel, located in Point Pleasant and Lakewood. He resides in Lavallette.

      Peter Kitay, a resident of the Lakewood/Jackson area, manages County Line Construction in Jackson. His in­volvement in charitable and civic organi­zations includes the Jackson Township Fire Commissioners, the Boy Scouts, and The Physically Impaired.

      Harvey Klein, longtime supporter of Kimball Medical Center, has over a quar­ter of a century of manufacturing experi­ence through his local business Red, The Uniform Tailor, in Toms River. He is in­volved in the Kiwanis Club, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, The YMCA of Ocean County, and Children’s Specialized Hospital. He resides in Lakewood.

      All three men will serve three-year terms on the foundation’s board.

      Watchung Spring Water, Lakewood, has been selected by The Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, as one of the five semifinalists in the "Sales Over $10 Million" category of the 2003 New Jersey Family Business of the Year awards.

      Watchung Spring Water will celebrate its 100th year as a family business this October. Chairman Robert Berliner and President Andrew Berliner will receive an award at the 11th Annual Awards Luncheon, to be held Oct. 16 at the Double Tree Hotel in Somerset.

      Robert Berliner said, "This is a won­derful achievement that everyone in the company is proud of. Many companies were nominated, and to be named one of the semifinalists is quite an honor."

      The competition is sponsored by N.J. Monthly magazine, PNC Bank, and the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies.

      Cooper, and Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G).

      Roshni Desai, O.D., M.S., has been appointed director of clinical care at Rummel Eye Care/Low Vision Care Center, Jackson. She graduated from the State University of New York, College of Optometry, with a doctor of optometry and a master’s degree in visual science. She completed a primary care residency at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. She has per­formed research and is published in the literature on progressive myopia. She practices family care optometry including pediatric and contact lens care.

      Cathleen J. Lee has been appointed to the newly created, part-time position of museum coordinator for the Lakewood Heritage Commission’s museum in the Princeton Avenue School administration building, 655 Princeton Ave.

      Lee has been employed in the Lakewood public school district for the last 33 years as a social studies teacher and Public Assistance Learning Service (PALS) co-ordinator. She received a bachelor of arts degree in social studies from Georgian Court College in 1970, and a master of arts in education from Seton Hall University, South Orange, in 1971. She was named Teacher of the Year in Lakewood in 1999.

      While no date has been set, the com­mission is anticipating opening its first museum this fall, according to Commission Chairman Sheldon Wolpin. The commission has purchased 10 display cases to show the numerous artifacts of Lakewood collected in recent years. Anyone interested in donating to the mu­seum’s collection should call Wolpin at (732) 920-4550. The commission recently received a $10,000 grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission for an edu­cational function of the museum involv­ing student participation, Wolpin said.

      LeTip International, Freehold Chapter, will hold its fall business mixer on Oct. 9 from 7-8:30 a.m. at Old Country Buffet in the Pond Road Shopping Cen­ter, Route 9, Freehold Township.

      LeTip International is a business net­working organization comprised of an ar­ray of professionals spanning nearly all classes of trade.

      Professional and Business Singles Network will hold an "Eight Date Ro­tate," buffet supper and social for ages 50 and over, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at a mem­ber’s home.
