Army 2nd Lt. Daniel S. Krentzman, son of Nancy M. Aumack of Howell and Eric A. Krentzman of Freehold, has graduated from the infantry officer basic course at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The four-month course is designed to instruct new lieutenants in leadership, tactical and combat-related skills, and tasks that concentrate on practical battlefield training. Krentzman is a 2003 graduate of Kean University, Union, and a 1999 graduate of Freehold Township High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Richard K. Moran, son of Margaret M. Moran of Howell, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., where during field training he and his fellow recruits performed close order drill and operated as a small infantry unit. He is a 2003 graduate of Freehold Township High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Ahhen K. Tatum, son of Frances and stepson of Chris Tatum of Howell, has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 2003 graduate of Howell High School, he received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, military courtesy and Army history.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Vincent A. Migliaccio Jr., son of Lisa M. and Vincent A. Migliaccio of New Egypt, and his fellow crew members recently hosted actor Ben Affleck aboard USS Enterprise in the Arabian Gulf. Affleck delivered a morale-boosting message to Migliaccio and 5,300 other sailors and marines as they prepared to spend the holiday season defending the country. Affleck later posed for photographs and signed autographs for the crew, which was treated to a special showing of his new film, "Paycheck." Migliaccio’s ship is currently providing close air support to ground units in Iraq as part of the Navy’s 5th Fleet. Migliaccio is a 2000 graduate of Nottingham High School of Hamilton, and joined the Navy in August 2000.
