St. Veronica students succeed in competitions
Twelve students from St. Veronica School, Howell, participated in the 14th annual Monmouth County Fair Housing Poster Contest through their art class, taught by Irene Sullivan. Five of the students were selected to have their pictures included in the 2005 Fair Housing Calendar, to be distributed throughout Monmouth County. Two students from St. Veronica took first place — Alexandra Murphy and Jennifer Durso. Honorable mention was awarded to Ryane Candela, Katherine Sullivan and Catherine Giotis. These students were honored at an awards ceremony April 18th. Fourteen seventh-graders from St. Veronica School participated in the 11th annual Scholastic Olympics at Monsignor Donovan High School, Toms River, March 10. Lauren Kelly received the gold medal in science. The silver medal in English went to Blaine Caslin. Daniel Ferrer won the bronze medal in art. Also participating was Caitlin Koob, Monica Michael, Vincent Leone, Loriel Letizia, Martha Vincent, Alex Pace, Christine Wharry, Donald Micallef, Kelsey Burke, Ryan Baltazar and Emilio Taillefer. Lakewood Heritage Museum to open in Sept. The grand opening of the Lakewood Heritage Commission’s museum, located in the Princeton Avenue Administration Building at 655 Princeton Ave., Lakewood, has been scheduled for Sept. 12. They are presently adding more display cases in order to keep up with the numerous articles of memorabilia that have been donated. The commission is continually seeking to acquire additional memorabilia of Lakewood’s history. Those interested in donating may contact Sheldon Wolpin, commission chairman, at (732) 920-4550. |
