Yvonne Thomas, outgoing president, installed Diana Fraundorfer as the 2004-05 chapter president. The new board members are Lenore Allocca, internal vice president; Cheryl DeLeo, external vice president; Jeanette Blodgett, state/national director; Marsha Wydra, treasurer; Diane Stanaway, recording secretary; Christine Sheridan, corresponding secretary; and Elizabeth Stelevich, Food Pantry director. Thomas gave special achievement awards to Christine Sheridan as the New Member of the Year and Vickie Vitale as the chapter’s Woman of the Year. Accolades and acknowledgments were given by past Jackson Mayor Michael Kafton and the U.S. Women of Today Parliamentarian, Patricia Rhein of the Clifton Chapter. New Jersey president and Jackson member, Elizabeth Stelevich, also attended. The Jackson Women of Today is the largest women’s club in the area and is visible at almost every activity in the township. Scholarship awards are given annually to graduating seniors who have contributed their time and energy to the club’s fund-raising and volunteer efforts. The club has been instrumental in the Chalk Day event scheduled for May 8 and recently at the township Halloween Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, Jackson Day and the Volunteer Dinner. Fraundorfer remarked on the anniversary of the club’s charter, which was received 40 years ago next month. The Jackson chapter is part of the National Women of Today Organization active in 18 states. The Jackson Food Pantry has been the chapter’s most visible activity, serving 75 families a month in the old library building on Don Connor Boulevard. The group meets at 8 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at the Bella Terra facility on County Line Road. For membership information call Fran, (732) 942-3616. |
