Mother thanks students for remembering special child

To the graduating class of Jackson Memorial High School. I wanted to take this time to thank each and every one of you for writing that lovely poem in the yearbook.

The poem reads:

"It is your scars that have wounded our hearts and the guilt that we weren’t there when tragedy struck.

"We can try to move on to a better place, but you’re the one that has moved on to the best place.

"And when our hearts beat, they really whisper our love for you, because you have just moved into our hearts and will never leave.

"We weren’t there for you on that tragic day, but you will always remain with us, because we can’t forget a smile that graced our eyes.

"We might drown from the sorrow, but remain afloat from your soul.

"And we’ll look on to better days that shall come.

"We’ll long for those long days we will spend with you.

"But for now, we’ll keep a part of you inside, as you guard us with your heart."

A son, a brother, a friend

It meant the world to me and to Eddie’s brother and sisters that he was remembered in such a way, it truly touched my heart. This shows the wonderful character that you all have.

As I watched you all on graduation day, you can see what fine young adults you have all grown into. I know that Eddie was there that day in spirit smiling with you all.

I wish you all nothing but success and happiness in your future. Live every day to the fullest, and remember if you follow your dreams, you can achieve them all. Best of luck to you all.
