      Professor Linda Kardos, chair of Georgian Court University’s social work, gerontology and political science depart­ment, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Ocean County Commission on the Status of Women by the Board of Freeholders of Ocean County.

      A 15-year veteran of Georgian Court University, Kardos also heads the Lake­wood Hispanic Needs Assessment, which has identified the needs of a growing Hispanic community in Lakewood and is currently working to address those needs.

      Kardos is a registered nurse and holds a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University. She lives in Toms River, and has three grown children who all work in or are studying service fields, including special education and social work.
