The three-year-long campaign will feature a new Web site, www.CommitToAGirl.org, with information on the challenges girls face locally and nationally, and opportunities to support scouting locally and nationally. The Scout program in Monmouth and northern Ocean counties addresses concerns about peer pressure, self-esteem, body image, career development, creative writing, dating, bullying, stress and other issues. The Web site will allow visitors to make a donation to the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts, create a "Commit To A Girl" page that can be customized to honor a loved one, contact old friends, celebrate a birthday, sign up for a book club, or even host a virtual fund-raising party. To volunteer time or make a donation, call (732) 938-5454, ext. 37, or visit www.CommitToAGirl.org.
The Richard Stockton College Board of Trustees unanimously approved a tuition increase of $11.10 per credit at a special meeting recently.
According to a press release from the college, the 7.5 percent increase assures the college will have the necessary operating funds to meet all salary and program requirements, as well as launch the new college initiatives. Among these are hiring new faculty to reduce the student-to-faculty ration, adding a chief financial officer and an assistant to the vice president for academic affairs, as well as to initiate a new honors program.
The tuition increase makes the per-credit cost at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey $159.10 per credit hour for in-state students and $258 per credit hour for out-of-state students.
