Howell’s Grant Acker, a senior at Gettysburg (Pa.) College, has been named to the “Street & Smith” and “Football Gazette” preseason Division III All-American teams at linebacker. Acker is coming out a breakout season with the Bullets in ’03, when he recorded 139 tackles, including 77 solo stops. They were the most tackles by a Gettysburg defender since 1978. Acker intercepted two passes during the season and returned one theft for a touchdown. He was named to the All-Centennial Conference and All-ECAC Southwest All-Star Teams after the season and was a CC Defensive Player of the Week winner.

A three-year letter-winner, Acker enters the 2004 season with 221 career tackles (123 solo).

Gettysburg went 5-5 in 2003. With 33 letter-winners, including 12 starters, returning, the Bullets have made winning the Centennial Conference championship their goal in ’04.

Acker is a graduate of the Peddie School, where he was an all-state prep selection.
