Training institute
graduates largest class
The Entrepreneurial Training Institute (ETI) recently awarded certificates to 136 students who took classes in the fall or spring at the school’s locations throughout the state.
Sponsored by the Trenton-based New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and New Jersey Development Authority (NJDA) for Small Businesses, Minorities’ and Women’s Enterprises — whose programs are managed by NJEDA — the ETI program supports Gov. James E. McGreevey’s initiatives to foster the growth of small businesses, particularly enterprises that are owned by women and minorities.
Among the local residents who completed the eight-week program at the institute’s Lakewood location are Joseph Brady, Wayne Brown and Steven Pimiak, all of Jackson; and Miles Butler of Lakewood. Butler, principal of Electrical Contractors Inc., Lakewood, also received the Christina Edwards Scholarship, which provides recipients with two $500 stipends to be used as startup capital. Edwards, a 1999 ETI graduate and owner of the Unity Day Care Center in Lakewood, presented the scholarship to Butler and two other graduates.
