Assembly moves on open space bills

The state Assembly approved several legislative measures co-sponsored by Sen. Robert Singer, Assemblyman Ronald Dancer and Assemblyman Joseph Malone.

The 30th District legislative team co-sponsored a number of bills that secured funding from the Garden State Green Acres and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund for the acquisition of open space.

“I am proud to sponsor legislation that seeks to protect our state’s ecological future,” said Dancer. “Green Acres and farmland preservation programs have been a useful tool to combat the menacing problem of urban sprawl.”

The bills, A-3150, A-3199, A-3203 and A-3205, appropriate more than $11.8 million to develop land for recreation or pres-ervation purposes for projects in Burling-ton, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

“Preserving open space has a profound environmental impact,” said Singer. “We want our children to be able to enjoy the same locally grown foods, recreational opportunities and wildlife we currently have here in New Jersey.”

Singer, Dancer and Malone noted these projects are very important to the residents of their district because they protect the quality of life in Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

“This bipartisan measure will help us continue with our efforts to protect open space throughout New Jersey,” added Malone. “Curbing sprawl is essential if we want future generations to be able to enjoy the quality of life we have come to know and love.”
