Club grateful for Walk for the Cure support

On Dec. 8, the Women’s Club at Westlake presented a check in the amount of $29,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation New Jersey Race for the Cure. The monies collected are earmarked for research and support services for cancer patients within our state — including providing mammograms and other health resources for those who have no insurance or cannot afford to pay for services.

Westlake held its second annual Walk for the Cure on Sept. 11, 2004. Last year we shocked the New Jersey chairperson when we presented her with a check for $10,800 and became a Silver Sponsor. This year, we reached for the Gold (sponsorship) and made Platinum by raising $29,000. We are now sharing sponsorship with Commerce Bank, L’Oreal, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the New Jersey race host sponsor, Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Our dollars represent a host of local sponsors and contributors. So, on behalf of the Westlake Women’s Club Walk for the Cure Committee, we want to say “thank you” to everyone who supported this. It is all of your dollars that helped make our walk and donation the success it was.

We are already planning next year’s event. We are excited about our upcoming challenge and to surpassing this year’s totals.

Through your contributions and support, we are truly making a difference. Happy holidays!
