Sports Shorts

Gymnasts from the Wilton Academy of Gymnastics participated at the Sectional No. 3 held at Head Over Heels Gymnastics on April 17.

In Level 4, 8 years old action, Shani Weiss took first in the all-around (37.825) after finishing first on the bars (9.3) and floor (9.575), and second on the vault (9.425) and beam (9.525). Tori Wilton was fourth in the AA (36.375) after finishing third on the beam (9.375), fourth on the floor (9.1), fifth on the vault (9.35) and eighth on the bars (8.55). Aliyah Slocum took sixth on the vault (9.25) and finished with an all-around score of 32.1.

In Level 4, 9-11 years old action, Samantha Gormley took third in the AA (36.775), after finishing first on the bars (9.4), second don the beam (9.45), and fourth on the floor (9.175). Jessica Cataldo was 12th in the AA (35.6) after finishing second on the floor (9.3), fourth on the beam (9.35) and seventh on the vault (9.25). Alexandria Havens also performed well, scoring a 32.5 in the all-around and a 9.1 on the vault.

Jackson American Legion Post No. 504 is once again proud to sponsor a team this summer. The Ocean County League will consist of 15 teams, sponsored by various posts throughout the county. Winners are eligible to go on to t regional and national tournament, with the Region Two games to be held at Campbell Field in Camden. New Jersey has a successful history in legion baseball, including the 2001 World Series, won by Brooklawn Post No. 72. Jackson won the county in 2003.
