The following are the results of the Westlake Women’s Golf Association’s opening day tournament (best ball) on April 21.

In the 18-hole competition, the team of Fran Krumholz, Jeanne Chrabaszcz, Judy Harter and Natalie Bindler was first with a 49, followed by the team of Eileen Anton and Beth Pollack (52), and the team of Terry Iannelli, Mary Ann Plesniak and Barbara Bell (55).

In the nine-hole competition, the team of Joyce Edwards, Carolyn Osnation, Carol Sabine and Joyce Kazan was first with a 28, followed by the team of Diana Van Hise, Vickie Turco, Lucy Rausch and Nancy Maas (29), and the team of Nancy Robbins, Gail William, Angie Yasson and Barbara Tafro (30).

The Jackson Destiny U13 girls soccer team will hold tryouts on June 13 and 14 at Johnson Park (football field side) at 6:30 p.m. Girls must show up both days. Out-of-town girls are welcome.

The Howell Recreation Department is holding open registration during the month of February for its men’s summer basketball league — 35 and over.

Friday night games will begin on May 27 at Oak Glen Park. Registration fee is $25, with additional referee fees.

The Howell Recreation Department is also holding open registration during the month of February for its youth summer basketball league — grades 4-10. The six-week schedule will being the first week of June. Registration fee is $25, with additional $15 referee fees.

In the 18-hole competition, Leslie Barenberg won the A Flight with a 50, followed by Pat Hannisch with a 51 and Linda Burnett with a 54. Helene Franco won the B Flight with a 49, followed by Mary Ann Plesniak with a 52 and Mary Jo Scotese, also with a 52. Jeanne Chrabaszcz won the C Flight with a 48, followed by Barbara Bell with a 48 and Annette Brenner with a 49.

In the nine-hole competition, Diane Van Hise won the A flight with a 16, followed by Gloria Harbour, also with a 16, and Sandy Kwiecinski with a 17. Gail Kornfield won the B Flight with a 20, followed by Sylvia Cohen and Nancy Powderly, also with 20s. Barbara Tafro won the C Flight with a 19, followed by Angie Yasson and Lorraine Alessio, both with 21s.
