Southard Grange to host flea market & garage sale

A flea market and garage sale will be held June 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Southard Grange, 4860 Route 9 south (across from Kohl’s and just past Pizza Hut), in Howell.

The rain date will be July 2. New children’s clothing, gardening plants, hand-made quilts and fresh farm products will be available. Set-up will begin at 7 a.m.

Tables are available at a cost of $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Call (732) 901-0388 or (732) 901-8777 for details and table reservations.

Jackson Food Pantry

distribution date June 23

The Food Pantry operated by the Jackson Women of Today will be open for distribution June 23 from 5-7:30 p.m. Residents of Jackson in need of grocery assistance may attend at this time.

Proof of identification, proof of residency in the township and copies of birth certificates or custody papers for all children under the age of 18 residing in the household are necessary at registration. An application form and financial information will be completed at the first visit. Current clients are also reminded to bring the above information since the staff will be updating all files this month through the summer. Adult volunteers are needed to help stock shelves and bag orders June 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call (732) 833-6800 for all information about the Food Pantry and Jackson Women of Today.

Jackson Optimist Club

names new officers

The Jackson Optimist Club has announced the names of the recently elected Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the upcoming year. They are Arnie Siegel, president; Joe Kienzlen, immediate past president; Vinny Rubio, president-elect; Pat Betancourt, vice president; Laura Debiak, secretary-treasurer.

Sam DePasquale, Dave Furbish and Dave Franciosi have been elected to the Board of Directors for a one-year term. Ira Blum, Barbara Arbolino and Nirmala Mirchandani have been elected to the Board of Directors for a two-year term.

The members of the Jackson Optimist Club are dedicated to serving the youth of the community. They serve as leaders, mentors and friends and volunteer their time to help youths achieve a more positive and productive life. Members sponsor many contests and events to raise money for scholarships and charities.

Home Depot will hold

‘Hero Appreciation’ day

The Home Depot, 1990 Route 9 south, Howell, will hold its second annual Community Hero Appreciation Day, June 18. The event gives citizens a chance to get to know the organizations that support the community, and let people know how they can support the public service agencies.

Workshops and demonstrations will be presented by representatives of numerous organizations, including the Howell police and fire departments and the first aid squad, MONOC, the Girl Scouts of America, the U.S. Army and the Jackson Fire Department. A children’s workshop will be held from 9:30-11 a.m., and the event runs until 2 p.m.

Bus trip to Benny Hinn Miracles Crusade July 14

Spirit-Filled Life Ministries will be sponsoring a bus trip to Benny Hinn Miracles Crusade in East Rutherford, July 14. The bus will depart from Lakewood at 2:30 p.m. The cost for the trip is $23 per person.

Howell Optimist Club names new officers

The Howell Optimist Club has announced the names of the recently elected Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the upcoming year.Joe Kienzlen, president; Bob Knapp, immediate past president; Jason Cies, president-elect; Chris Estevez, vice president; Dawn Nakash, secretary/treasurer.

The 2005-2006 Directors will be Martin Saltzman, John Stefani, Vicki Knapp, Bob Faias, and Ana May Damatac.
