Brianna Acacia, a 6-year-old from Jackson, and Carli Fargione, a 7-year-old also from Jackson, competed in Pumpkin Cup Invitational gymnastics meet Saturday at Rutgers University.

The girls are on the level 5 USAG gymnastics team at Jonas Gymnastics Academy, Morganville. Brianna scored 8.1 on the uneven bars, 8.6 on the balance beam, 7.9 on the floor exercise and 8.35 on the vault en route to a first-place finish in the all-around competition. Her all-around score of 32.95 qualifies her to compete in the level 5 sectional competition.

Carli scored 6.95 on the uneven bars, 8.675 on the balance beam, and 6.85 on the floor exercise and 8.0 on the vault en route to a second-place finish in the all-around competition. Her all-around score of 30.475 qualifies her to compete in the level 5 sectional competition

Both girls competed in the 7-8-age category. Brianna and Carli attend Elms Elementary School in Jackson. Brianna is in second grade; Carli is in third grade.

St. Rose High School has announced plans to host the 11th annual Run for the Roses Grammar School Cross Country Championships.

The Run for the Roses Cross Country Championships, sponsored by the St. Rose High School Athletic Club, will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at the St. Rose High School Athletic Complex, Hurley Pond Road near Allaire Airport in Wall Township.
