Jackson blood drive April 10

JACKSON - Township Committee-man Mike Kafton is asking all residents who are able, to join him in donating blood on April 10 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the municipal building, 95 W. Veterans Highway.

"Whoever gives blood gives the gift of life," Kafton said. "Blood is in need each and every day of the year. So by giving blood now we are all ensuring that this precious gift is available for patients who might need your help to survive an accident or illness."

The American Red Cross stated, "We all depend on this perishable resource. Blood is an emergency medicine and must always be readily available. If all blood donors gave at least twice a year, it would help prevent blood shortages."

Kafton said residents should become educated about the benefits of donating blood.

"One donation can save the lives of three people," he said. "Just think, if you started donating when you were 17 and donated every 56 days until you reach the age of 76, you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save over 1,000 lives."

Anyone interested in making an appointment to donate blood can call Kafton's office at (732) 905-7898 or visit his Internet Web site www.michaelkafton.com and make an appointment on-line.

For information about whether or not you are eligible to donate, call the Amer-ican Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
