Lakewood Middle School math students excel

LAKEWOOD - This year, for the first time, the Lakewood Middle School held a Math Olympics, a competition to test which students have the highest math ability. Math teacher Patricia Jacobs was in charge of the event. Based on the results, which evaluate the same skills as are required on the state GEPA and NJ ASK tests, the following students scored the highest:

Eighth grade: first place, Chris Gar-retson; second place, Samuel Sackey; third place, Carlos Erazo.

Seventh grade: first place, McKenzie Mickel; second place, Christian Romero; third place, Denisk Martinez.
