      Chalk art
           The annual chalk art show sponsored by the Jackson Community Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Jackson Optimist Club attracted a group of talented people to the ShopRite shopping center on County Line Road recently. In photo at top, Dana Vogel, of Jackson, draws the familiar faces of Harry Potter and his friends; Katie Fitzpatrick, 15, of Jackson, (above left) works on her drawing; at left, Billy Strachan, 10, uses just the right touch to create a work of art.

      Pupils' research brings animals' stories to life
           JACKSON - There are some endangered species at the Switlik School these days, but you can only find them pictured on the screen of the Power Point presentation given by the 23 pupils in Alisha Robinson's first grade class and the 43 pupils in the fourth grade classes of Eileen McKee and Lisa Diehl.

      School board will address report critical of special ed. placements
           LAKEWOOD - School district administrators have until July 31 to submit an action plan to the state in response to a report from the New Jersey Department of Education that indicates the district's special education placement system is flawed.
