JoanForcet-Walker, of Jackson, has been appointed vice president of QWIC Inc., a woman-owned construction management and general construction firm operating in six states. According to QWIC's president, Nancy Meyers, Forcet-Walker will direct all corporate operations, training grants and contracts, and the company's expansion into high-tech markets. Forcet-Walker joined the company in 2002 as director of marketing and technology, where she implemented and rolled out the New Jersey Schools Construction Small Business Enterprise Training Program. She has been in the construction industry for more than 20 years.
The Community Legal Coalition was recently organized by the Law Offices of Samuel Z. Brown in Lakewood to serve as a conduit for disseminating legal information to the community. The organization's goal is to educate the citizens of Lakewood and surrounding areas on the law and how it affects them. In addition to the Law Offices of Samuel Z. Brown, founder and charter member of the coalition, other members include Lakewood Resource and Referral Center, the Puerto Rican Action Board, Solutions to End Poverty Soon, and Latinos Unidos, published by Greater Media Newspapers.
Neil Brodsky, a partner in the Toms River law firm of Carluccio, Leone, Dimon Doyle and Sacks, has been reappointed general counsel and executive board member of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council (MODC). MODC is a business association with a membership of nearly 400 business, professional and community leaders in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Brodsky is a member of the New Jersey and New York federal and state bars and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit. He is the immediate past president and executive board member of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Corporate Resource Alliance Inc.

"Six Steps to a Better Business," a free workshop for local business owners, will be held Aug. 24-25 at the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, 17 Broad St., Freehold.
Susan Koval and Marshall Calman, certified business coaches with Action International, will present strategies for business owners to take control of their profits and cash flow. Strategies will include how to turn marketing into an investment rather than an expense, how to build a business that no longer competes on price, how to attract and retain people, and how to increase customers, revenues and profits.
