New Egypt Baseball announces that Fall Ball 2006 is still accepting applications for the fall baseball league. The league is for boys ages 7-9. All games will be played at the New Egypt Baseball complex, beginning approximately the week of Sept. 9 and ending late October or early November. This is open to all New Egypt residents and surrounding communities. The cost will be $60. The following are the results of the Westlake Women's Golf Association's Aug. 10 outing - Irons Only Scramble. In the nine-hole competition, the teams of Angie Yasson and Ellen Leiman, Joyce Kazan and Maryellen Martinasco, Mary Sullivan and Alba Ramos, and Lynn Husak and Nancy Powderly all carded 44s. The team of Nancy Robbins and Louise Cohen, as well as Greta Pineles carded 46s. Sandy Kwiecinski and Dale Jacene, Connie Singelakis, and Margaret Farrell carded 47s, while Fran Young and Carole Goldstein, Joan White and Margaret Cardone carded 48s. Gail Trieff, Eileen Hurley, Lorraine Schneider and Sydell Rice carded 49s. Juanita Hurley recorded a hole-in-one on the 69-yard, par-three 13th with a 9-iron.
The following are the results of the Nick "the Quick" Werkman's All-American Action Clinic's July 3 event. Tyler Bernhardt won the hot-shot contest with 39 points, followed by Brandan Lambana (35), Kyle Walters (32), Nathaniel Santana (30) and Timothy Schindler (30). Lambana won the foul-shooting contest, going 10-for-10, followed by Bernhardt (9-10), Walters (8-10), Schindler (7-10) and Santana (6-10). Bernhardt was the clinic MVP.
At the July 7 clinic, Santana won the hot-shot contest with 28 points, followed by Patrick Brady (25), Andrew Osterberg (20), Bernard Kwiatek (18) and Walters (16). Santana also won the foul-shooting contest, going 10-for-10, followed by Kwiatek (9-10), Brady (8-10), Walters (7-10) and Osterberg (6-10). Santana was clinic MVP.
The New Egypt Masters Softball League is looking for additional players. They play double-headers on Saturday mornings from September through November. This is an over-40 league. For more information, call Dave at (609) 758-2285.
The Jersey Yankees travel baseball teams (7/8 and 9/10) will be holding tryouts on Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. at HitDog in Toms River. Last year, in their first year, the Jackson Yankees entered the Hamilton Tournament and took second place.

The Howell Heat White 12U girls softball team took first place on July 15 and 16 in a tournament in Union. This is the first tournament win the girls have had since moving up to the 12U Level. The team was seeded first in three tournaments, and took first place in Union, and second place in the Howell Heatwave. They have two tournaments left this season, and so far their overall record is 26-16-1. The players are Lauren Saal, Danielle Schena, Emily Cottrell, Dena Tanenbaum, Kelly Hardiman, Taylor August, Meaghan Catanzaro, Deena Stefanelli, Bryana Smith, Erin Drennan, Amy Piccicacco and Gianna Kinhofer.
The Jackson Diamonds Fastpitch Softball organization will be holding tryouts for their 12U, 14U and 16U squads on Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bartley Road Softball Complex in Jackson Township. Jackson Diamonds emphasizes player development and team building in a competitive and fun environment. They are looking for goal-oriented, dedicated players. Winter workouts include sessions with college coaches and players, and professional trainers. They play a full schedule of tournaments including national qualifiers. Pinelanders Youth Soccer Club, Howell, is now accepting registrations for the fall 2006 season. This is a recreational program: all games are played at our fields on Adelphia-Farmingdale Road (Route 524), Howell, next to the Memorial Middle School. Registration is open to boys and girls who will be ages 4-18 on Oct. 1; birth certificates are required at registration. Girls 5-18 can choose all-girl or co-ed soccer.
