The Ocean County Coin Club will conduct its 36th Anniversary Coin Show and Exhibit at the Laurelton Fire House, Brick, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to club show director, Dennis Berube, the show, which is the largest coin show conducted in the area, will feature 30 dealers, 10 exhibits and free junior treasure hunts throughout the day. Last year's show drew over 350 collectors and visitors.
Veteran coin collectors and novices will have the opportunity to explore the benefits associated with coin collecting as they peruse 30 tables of coins, paper money, tokens and medals. Visitors will also be able to check the values of coins and paper money that they have collected over the years. Question-and-answer sessions will be conducted throughout the show.

Jackson Civic Chorus welcomes new members
The Jackson Civic Chorus invites residents of Jackson and surrounding towns who are interested in participating in the chorus to attend open auditions Sept. 12 or Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson United Methodist Church, 68 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. The Jackson Civic Chorus is a community chorus sponsored by the Jackson Council for the Arts. Under the direction of Margaret Ambrus Eisenschmied, the chorus welcomes diversity of ages and musical experience. The chorus rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Jackson United Methodist Church. No membership dues are associated with the chorus. High school students (under age 18) interested in joining the chorus should phone ahead for additional information and requirements.
Yoga classes offered

The Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Yoga classes on Thursdays from Sept. 14- to Oct. 19. All classes will be held at the Ocean County Administration Complex Cafeteria, 129 Hooper Ave., Toms River. The classes are for those 16 and over and will be $35 per person.

New cantor joins Congregation B'nai Israel
Congregation B'nai Israel, Toms River, has announced that cantor Adam Goldstein has joined the congregation as its first new cantor in 30 years. Goldstein and brother, cantor Martin Goldstein, and sister, cantor Amy Goldstein, comprise The Goldstein Family Singers. The trio has performed nationwide for 30 years and is recording a new CD. Goldstein and his wife Holly also perform as a duo, and are working on a new CD. Goldstein, a father of two children, also publishes music for youth choir and congregational singing. He received his Hazzan Ministry Certification in 1995 and also studied at the Manhattan School of Music.
Jersey Shore Audubon trip to New York City
The Jersey Shore Audubon Society will conduct a bus trip to New York City for a cruise around Manhattan Island and a visit to the United Nations building Sept. 8. The bus will depart from the Brick Target parking lot area "F" on Route 70 west at 7 a.m. and return at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The cost for this trip is $75 per person, which includes the Circle Line cruise and admission to United Nations with tour. Attendees will have time to purchase lunch on the boat during the cruise. Details and reservations: (732) 349-6646.
'Learn to Bowl' classes offered in Lakewood
The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor a "Learn to Bowl" program from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays, Sept. 15 to Oct. 6 at the Brunswick Lakewood Lanes on routes 9 and 70 in Lakewood. The fee for each player is $10. Refer to program 313094-3A when registering. This class is for participants who have never taken a "Learn to Bowl" class.

Allentown High School class of 1986 to reunite

Jackson to host 5K Run and 1-mile fun run
A 5K run and a 1-mile fun run sponsored by Commerce Bank will take place rain or shine at the Jackson Justice Complex, Jackson Drive, on Sept. 2. The registration fee is $8 in advance and $10 at the door for the 5K run, and $6 in advance and $8 at the door for the 1-mile run. All ages are welcome to participate. Jackson Day planned for Sept. 9 at Johnson Park
Jackson Day is slated to take place Sept. 9 at Johnson Park at the intersection of Cooks Bridge Road and Manhattan Street. A parade will start at noon and the event will feature more than 100 food, game and information vendors, crafts exhibits, a SpongeBob funhouse, a rock climbing wall, rides, games for all (including those who are disabled) and more.
Entertainment will feature DJ music all day, karaoke, Radio Disney from 2-4 p.m., the Marvelettes at 5:30 p.m. and a surprise 1950s group at 7 p.m. Fireworks will go off at dusk. Details: (732) 928-1200, ext. 255.

Billiard lessons offered this fall in Lakewood
The Ocean County Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct lessons in billiards at Q-Ball Billiards, Route 37 (just west of Vaughn Avenue), Lakewood, this fall.
The first session will be conducted on Thursdays, Sept. 14-Oct. 19, program 313054-2A. The second session will also be held on Thursdays, Nov. 2 - Dec. 14 (no class Nov. 23), program 313054-2B. Community School trip
to Cape May Sept. 30
The Lakewood Community School is sponsoring a bus trip to an Oktoberfest in Victorian Cape May, Sept. 30. The bus will depart from the Lakewood municipal building at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Cape May about 10:30 a.m. for its annual Oktoberfest with German food, music, a beer garden and handmade items and crafts.
Visit historic Washington Street Mall and shop the many quaint stores; hop a trolley for a riding tour; have lunch at one of the many eateries or just enjoy the waterfront. The bus will return to Lake-wood at about 6 p.m.

Community School trip
to visit West Point
The Lakewood Community School is sponsoring a bus trip to the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., Oct. 5, for a guided tour and buffet lunch at the Hotel Thayer, owned by the U.S. Army. A scenic cruise along the Hudson River is also included. The fee of $85 includes bus transportation to West Point, tour, lunch and cruise.
