Naming of alleged perpetrators has aura of unfairness
Regarding your recent story "Formal Complaint Alleges Rape of Woman by Officer," the article contains the word "alleges," which means that the charges may or may not be true.
Is it fair, therefore, to list those people who have been charged, but not the person making the charges?
People reading the story will remember, perhaps vaguely, that so-and-so were connected with crimes committed.
Why should these men's names be made public for possible ridicule, while the woman making the charge (which may be untrue) does not share the exposure?
Even if in six months or six years the charges are found to be false, these men (whom I don't know) will have suffered unfairly.
