      Attorney corrects info about DWI convictions
            As a local criminal defense attorney with a substantial DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) practice, I read with interest the recent article by Kathy Chang titled "Misconcep-tions Abound About Police, Traffic Laws." Unfortunately, the article itself contains two significant "misconceptions" concerning drunk driving law in New Jersey that should be corrected.

      Senior services director appreciates support
            At the start of a new year it seems most fitting to reflect upon the generosity of others. The spirit of caring and compassion that was showered throughout 2006 upon the senior citizens who live in Howell by businesses, the school community and agencies is both heartwarming and incredibly amazing.

      World's problems challenge all of us to seek solutions
            Mark Rosman, in his In the News column, ("There is More to Life Than Problems in the Rain Forest," Tri-Town News, Jan. 5, 2007) bemoans the fact that his children are not learning in school about problems close to home. I think he is missing the point that "problems in the rain forest" cause problems locally - in air quality and weather changes.

      Peter Carlson served the people of Jackson with integrity
            I was saddened to learn of the death of Peter Carlson with whom I had the privilege and honor of knowing and working over his many years of public service to the Jackson community. Pete was a man of great integrity who put the needs of the people first and helped to make Jackson the great community it is today.
