      NEW EGYPT - A new era in racing at New Egypt Speedway was kicked off Saturday as the track hosted its annual open practice session. Over 110 cars from 10 different divisions went through technical inspection, testing and tuning during the afternoon in preparation for the track's season opener on Saturday.

Lakewood Hall of Fame to induct 14 athletes, two teams
      LAKEWOOD -Fourteen people and the 1936 Lakewood High School football, basketball and baseball teams will be inducted into the Lakewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame at a luncheon Sunday, April 22, at the Woodlake Country Club. This is the first time the association has honored an entire team at the third annual honors program, association President Ed Brandt said.

      The Howell Recreation Department will hold registration for its adult summer basketball league until April 18. Both men's and women's divisions are open to those 18 and older. All games are held at Oak Glen Park on weekday evenings. Regular season will begin in late May and run through August, plus playoffs. Fee is $95 per player with an eight-player maximum per roster.
