      Bilingual persons needed to aid homebound seniors
            Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, a nonprofit agency in Ocean County, is seeking bilingual individuals to help the elderly who are homebound. Help is provided by driving to medical visits, shopping, making friendly visits and making reassuring phone calls.

      Knights' Father's Day event at Monmouth Park
            The Howell-Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201 will hold its fifth annual Father's Day at Monmouth Park, Oceanport, June 17, starting when the gates open at 11:30 a.m. Ticket prices are $28 for adults, $7 for ages 13-17 and free for children 12 and under.

      Boy Scouts are hosting food drive for pantry
            Every year Boy Scout Troop 258 from the Taunton School in Howell conducts a food drive around the holiday season to help stock the Howell emergency food pantry as part of its community service project to help friends and families in need.

      Nominees sought for Jackson Hall of Fame
            The Jackson Alumni Hall of Fame trustees are seeking nominees for the Jackson Memorial High School Alumni Hall of Fame. Those selected will be honored at an induction ceremony in October. Nominees should have attended school in Jackson at some point in their life and have made a significant contribution to mankind and/or their community.

      Oral history talk at Vietnam Memorial
            The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation, Holmdel, will host an oral history discussion June 23 at 1 p.m. Chuck Welsh, of Howell, will present "From the Rice Paddies to the Principal's Office." Welsh is a Vietnam veteran and a middle school principal.

      Library seeks used books
            The Friends of the Plumsted Library will collect used books July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 1 and Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The books will be sold at a book sale in November. Books, videos, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and comic books in good condition will be accepted. Books may be dropped off behind the New Egypt historical building on Evergreen Road, Plumsted.
