Nature boat tours offered in Ocean County

Nature boat tours will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August, 8-9 a.m. or 9-10 a.m., leaving from the Ocean County Parks Administration Office Boat Dock in Toms River.

The boat tours allow a novel look at the natural features of Cattus Island County Park. The Betty C, a six-passenger pontoon boat, will cruise the waters of Silver Bay, and one of Cattus Island's nature staff will serve as a guide.

This program is open to individuals ages 4 and older, and the fee is $5 per person. Reasonable assistance and accommodations are available with prior notice. Preregistration is mandatory. Call (732) 506-9090 to register.

Fishing and crabbing boat tours set for July 19, 25

Fishing and crabbing boat tours will leave from the Ocean County Parks Administration Office Boat Dock, Toms River, July 19 and 25. Two tours will be held each day: 8-10:30 a.m., and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Cattus Island Park's pontoon boat, the Betty C, will transport participants to crabbing and fishing locations in Silver Bay and Mosquito Cove. Those wishing to fish should bring poles and bait, and those wishing to crab should bring traps or lines, bait and nets.
