      BlueClaws welcome 3 millionth fan, then fall to Shorebirds
            LAKEWOOD - Brandon Tripp's 3-for-4 night spoiled the celebration of the BlueClaws' 3 millionth fan. Before the game, Lou Ameika passed through the gates at 6:24 p.m., becoming the 3 millionth fan in BlueClaws history, but once the game started, it was the Delmarva Shorebirds' offense that stole the show.

      Brick Township hosting game tomorrow night
            One of the first players Monmouth Regional quarterback Tom D'Ambrisi sought out when the Monmouth County all-stars began practice for Friday's Shore 44 All-Star Football game, was his fellow signal caller, Sean O'Reilly of Howell. "I want to sit down and talk with him," said D'Ambrisi. "It's going to be cool to learn a few things from him.

      Ex-Rebel, now at Wagner, playing in NECBL
            Matt Watson was one excited baseball player driving up to western Massachusetts last week. For the former Howell High School star, it represented yet another step forward on his comeback trail. He had received a call from the North Adams Steeplecats, telling him they needed his pitching services for the rest of the season.

            Ironically, on Friday the 13th, Jackson resident Jeffrey Hamilton scored a hole-in-one using a 7-iron on the 148-yard, fourth hole of the Palmer Course at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe. He was playing with Dennis Fitzpatrick, Ken Orchard and James Miekey.

      Godown and Carber share NES spotlight
            NEW EGYPT - Ryan Godown of Ringoes proved the old adage that "It's never over till it's over" on Saturday night at New Egypt Speedway by winning the 30-lap DIRTcar Modified feature on the final lap. Godown caught leader Bucky Kell with just three laps remaining and pulled off a crowd-pleasing last-turn pass to claim the $3,000 top prize for the third time this year.

            On Thursday, June 21, the BlueClaws captured the New Egypt Cal Ripken Minor Championship with a 5-4 win over the Red Wings. What made their win even more impressive is the fact that the team went 16-0 this season. The players' ages in this league are 8 and 9, although the BlueClaws had three 7-year-olds on the team.
