• Jackson Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation will hold a "Christmas in-August" themed tricky tray, Aug. 24 at VFW Post No. 4703, Magnolia Drive, Jackson. • An Italian Style Block Party will be held Aug. 25 at Solo Bella Restaurant, 426 Chandler Road, Jackson. Proceeds will benefit Caregivers Volunteers of Central Jersey. Entertainment will feature Kenny Vance and The Planotones (doo wop), Alto and Maneta (comedy), John Pizzi and Andy (ventriloquist), DJ Anthony and music from the '70s, games and amusements and more than 30 specialty vendors in addition to old world Italian food. • A pig roast hosted by the New Egypt Elks, 105 Lakewood Road, Plumsted, will take place Aug. 25, 1-11 p.m. Adults are $20; children 12 and under are free. • A blood drive will be conducted by New Jersey Blood Services, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 26 and 2-7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave, Toms River. Donors will receive free cholesterol testing. Those who donate Aug. 26 will receive a pair of Yankees game tickets and those who donate Aug. 31 will receive a pair of Mets tickets. • The Center for Healthy Living at Kimball Medical Center will present a free program designed to help women undergoing radiation and/or chemotherapy cope with the side effects of cancer treatment. Presented though the Jersey Shore Region of the American Cancer Society, "Look Good Feel Better" was created to provide make-up and skin care tips, as well as advice on wigs and accessories. The program will be held Aug. 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Living, 198 Prospect St., Lakewood. Registration is required. Details: (800) 227-2345.
• The Central Jersey Blood Center will host a blood drive at the Lakewood Elks Lodge No. 1432, 711 W. Kennedy Blvd., Lakewood, Aug. 31 from 4-8 p.m. The event is being held on behalf of a young girl from Jackson who was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disorder and needs transfusions every two to three weeks.
