Benefit golf tournament slated for Sept. 5
The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Ocean (ADACO) and the Lakewood Rotary Club Foundation will host its annual golf tournament Sept. 5 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood. The proceeds raised from the event will benefit the substance abuse prevention and education programs of ADACO.
Registration for the tournament will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a barbecue lunch at noon, a 1 p.m. shotgun start, and buffet dinner afterward. In addition to lunch and dinner, the $175 registration fee includes greens fees, golf cart and golfer gift bag, plus Ralph Lauren Polo Travel Companions luggage for each player. Prizes will be awarded during dinner. This year's tournament features three hole-in-one contests; a brand new 2008 Ford sponsored by Larson Ford-Suzuki of Lakewood; a 2008 Harley- Davidson Sportster Nightster Motorcycle sponsored by Harley-Davidson/Buell of Long Branch; and the Lakewood BlueClaws are sponsoring the contest for two 2008 full-season ticket passes.
ADACO is a private, nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of alcoholism, other drug addiction and related problems. The council also provides assessment, treatment and referral services, and serves as a resource center for the county. It is funded through private donations, government grants, and proceeds from benefits such as the annual golf tournament.
