Jackson VFW turkey shoot begins Sept. 16
      Jackson Veterans of Foreign War Post 4703 will host its annual Fall Turkey Shoot Sept. 16 through Nov. 18 at the post home on Magnolia Drive in Jackson. The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. All are invited to attend. All guns must be standard factory manufactured without special modifications. Prizes will be awarded. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Charity softball game set for Sept. 14
      JACKSON - A charity softball game to benefit a township family will be played at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Pine Park, County Line Road, Lakewood. "The game will be played under the lights," said Jackson Police Officer John Pejoski. "Many of the firefighters and cops work past 5 p.m. so we will start the game at 7:30 p.m. and that's why we needed a park with lights.

      The Howell Township Special Education parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) will host a benefit concert at Memorial Middle School, 495 Adelphia Road, Howell, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Scheduled to perform are Mas Mojo with music from the 1960s, Jerry Topinka performing jazz, and The Happenings featuring Bob Miranda.

      • A fish fry sponsored by the New Egypt Elks, 105 Lakewood Road, Plumsted, will be held Sept. 14, 6-8 p.m. at the lodge. The cost for a fish dinner is $9 (two pieces) and $10 (three pieces). Chicken will also be available for $8 (two pieces) and $9 (three pieces). All children's dinners are $5. Proceeds benefit charities supported by the Elks.
