Recently the Jackson mayor and Township Council awarded a bid of $449,000 to build two basketball courts in Johnson Park. They only received one bid for the job. After reviewing the specs and the bid on this project I have come to the conclusion that the mayor and council think that the taxpayers of Jackson are idiots. More ... On Sept. 11, I had the opportunity to attend a 9/11 memorial service at the Westlake adult community in Jackson. They were the only ones to offer a 9/11 service in the entire Howell, Lakewood and Jackson area that I was aware of. This may not mean much to most people but to me it meant the world. More ... On Aug. 25, the Blue Moon Kruizers and Chik-fil-A restaurant of Howell sponsored their first Wheels for Meals car show/fundraiser to benefit the Howell Food Pantry. It was a huge success with more than $2,400 raised for needy families. This money will be used to provide Thanksgiving meals with all the fixings to over 125 area families in need. More ... |
