      Blues, fluke, and then some on full display this week
            With current weather fluctuations, fishing remains solid throughout the shoreline. Aboard the Captain Dave from Atlantic Highlands is the Wade Ray Construction Co. from Monmouth. Another group wanting to squeeze in the last of the fluke season resulted in a trip down the Reach Channel, which provided only a slow pick of fish.

      Overtime tally pushes Jackson girls soccer to a 4-1 record
            JACKSON - When Jackson Memorial and Brick Township square off in girls soccer, it's always an interesting endeavor, complete with plenty of drama and nail-biting excitement. Monday afternoon's meeting was no different. Senior Kristyn Lehman's overtime goal gave Jackson a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Brick in a Shore Conference A South battle.

            Despite a disappointing setback in week 1 against Southern Regional, Jackson Memorial High School football coach Mike Smith wasn't overly concerned with how his team would bounce back from the loss. Smith and his coaching staff addressed a number of issues during an intense week of practice. Week 2 produced a different result.

      Liberty notches first varsity football win for school
      Complete effort on both sides of the ball makes for historic win
            The Jackson Liberty High School football program captured its first varsity win Friday night with a 29-0 shutout over Wildwood High School. For Lions coach Tim Osborn, notching the first win in the program's history is a result of the hard work his kids have put in. "It's pretty special," Osborn said. "It's a tribute to how hard these guys have been working.
