      Committeeman Francis was a fine representative of Plumsted
            It was with a bittersweet touch of irony that I noticed the sign on Route 539 as I drove home from the decoy show in Tuckerton on Sept. 29. The sign read "It's a ducky weekend" and I spotted it the same day that Plumsted Deputy Mayor Kenneth H. Francis left this earth. I couldn't help but read the sign and smile through my tears.

      Ambulances could be based at Jackson's firehouses
            What is the value of a life? Can it be calculated? How can anyone pose such an absurd question? I have raised this question for a specific reason. Jackson is the third largest township in New Jersey. It is approximately 100 square miles in area. However, to service this large and growing municipality we still have only two emergency vehicles.

      Resident frustrated by health department official
            After reading a recent article on mosquitoes and West Nile virus and that it pertained to Ocean County residents, I felt inclined to call the township with regards to a neighbor of ours who has neglected their backyard for several years. This neighbor has a swimming pool, and yes it is filled with water and god knows whatever else.

      Ideas sought to make Jackson a better place to live
            The mayor and Township Council of Jackson continue to be pummeled and ravaged in the press for everything they are doing wrong. Some of these letters come from ordinary citizens. However, it would appear that many of the letters come from individuals affiliated or associated with other political entities in the township.
