Ideas sought to make Jackson a better place to live

The mayor and Township Council of Jackson continue to be pummeled and ravaged in the press for everything they are doing wrong. Some of these letters come from ordinary citizens.

However, it would appear that many of the letters come from individuals affiliated or associated with other political entities in the township.

Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that. It's the American way. However, in Jackson, it sometimes appears that the issue is over political control and power and not improving the welfare of the residents of Jackson.

When will the opposition stand up at a council meeting and put forth concrete proposals on how to change things in Jackson. It's not as if there weren't any issues to focus on.

Tell us what you would do to improve response time for emergency medical service. Tell us what line items you would reduce in the current budget. Tell us how you would bring additional revenues into the township coffers.

Tell us what you would do to bring new clean commercial ratables into the township. Tell us what you would do to limit residential growth within the parameters of our current master plan and state planning regulations.

The time to stop whining is now and to contribute to the betterment of the township we live in.

Yes, the administration has made mistakes, but what would you have done differently? Remember, Monday morning quarterbacking is easy. I picked all the right teams on Monday morning, but there was no risk.

Tell us what you would do with the issues facing us today and tell us now. We desperately need your ideas, even if it means that the current administration tries to take credit for your ideas. At least the residents of the township will benefit and isn't that what's it all about? I would rather hear you argue about what we did right and who should take credit than what they did wrong.

So tell us - the microphone is now open.

Paul Mayerowitz
